Accountable for delivering a £48m portfolio of projects within a £250m e-enabling
change programme, under Prince II / MSP principles. Responsible for business case,
planning, forecasting, risk and issue management. Implemented management reporting
and decision support solutions to deliver daily information to staff, directors and
ministers. Designed and implemented a task management solution to reduce overall
manpower requirements for key processes by 2,500 to 5,000 man-weeks (10 - 20%).
Prepared and presented the business case for re-engineered reporting processes based
on a new financial consolidation and reporting system to the Finance Director. Following
a vendor selection phase, managed the implementation of the solution, completing
the 9-month development and rollout across the group. The results were 10 days being
taken off monthly close timetable, improved interpretation and analysis of results,
and a reduced timetable to iterate budgets and forecasts.
Global Telecommunications Group
Responsible for leading the management reporting workstream within a £50m finance
transformation programme aimed at integrating the finance teams of a newly merged
£1bn newspaper group. Led the design of a completely new Board report, utilising
performance measures tied to a business driver model developed by the team. Managed
the changes of systems and processes necessary to deliver the new reports to a reduced
monthly timetable, including management of two third-party suppliers.
National Newspaper and Media Group
Developed new bespoke IT solutions to manage the deferred share and fund awards of
over 500 key personnel, including investment managers and executives. Rolled out
web-based access to over 20 global locations to allow participants to view and manage
their awards. Comprehensively redesigned business processes to dramatically reduce
administration. Implemented extensive reporting capabilities including automated
calculation of accounting charges and deferred tax credits.
